School Board

The International School of Ouagadougou is a parent owned school governed by a Board of Directors.

The Board of seven voting members, who are elected by the parents, governs ISO. A representative of the U.S. Ambassador, a representative of the Teachers, and the Director also serve on the Board as non-voting members. Regular Board meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month of the school year, usually at 7:00 p.m. At these meetings, the business of the school is discussed and acted upon; all Association members are welcome to attend. Each meeting's agenda will be in the Turtle Talk the Friday prior to the Board meeting.

The Board supervises an experienced and professionally qualified Director whose goal is to insure a quality education for all the children within the financial and human resources available to the school. A copy of the full Board policy is available at the school's front office.

Committees

The Board is divided into committees whose meetings are also open to all members of the Association, except when dealing with personnel issues. Although official Board decisions are not made on this level, most matters to be brought before the Board are discussed in these committee meetings. The committees of the Board are:

  • Finance Committee
  • School Status  Committee
  • Board Policy Committee
  • Strategic Plan Committee
  • Strategic Planning Committee

If you have ideas or suggestions that you would like to submit to the Board concerning these topics, please send them to isoboard [at] iso [dot] bf
